This is my latest spring project. I received a request to create a journal or notebook cover with gems, jewel or crystal theme. I cannot refuse it. I love a good challenge and so the first thing that came to my mind is create a garden (flowers and leaves) with lots of glass beads. The colours I chose are purple, pink, blue, gold and greens. I never tried using translucent clay yet in my previous project but with this challenge, I was inspired to give it a try. I thought that translucent effect with pastel metallic colours will complete the look of the jewel theme that I have in mind.
I coloured my translucent clay using alcohol ink and pearl ex powder. The glass beads are individually glued to the raw clay. I also added strings of pearls. The pearls made a lovely accent. It gives an elegant look.
The book is a hardbound premium 192 pages unlined, acid free paper. The back part is also covered with black clay with pearl ex powder and stencilled butterfly.
I also glued flower and chain leaves on the side.
I am so happy on how this project turned out. It is a beautiful piece.
Something to keep and cherish.
